Our story

Brilla owner, Karen Abigail Kinsley, is also known as Abby. Abby was born in El Salvador and grew up in Southern California. Tea was important from a young age, Abby has fond memories of sipping tea before bed, as a remedy for colds, iced hibiscus tea during the summer, and lots of tea tastings and afternoon tea whenever possible. To this day one of the most memorable experiences was at Seven Cups in Tucson, AZ. This love of tea grew as travel allowed for more experiences and further knowledge. Tea brought opportunities for connection and self-reflection.

Life grew busy and stressful, eventually as so many can relate to, burnout set in. After a head injury in 2022, there was a need to slow down, heal and recover. Healing took time and lots of care and Abby still deals with symptoms to this day. This injury brought big changes, including the move across the country to Western New York, where West Seneca is now home.

As a social worker and in counseling others through life’s challenges, Abby believes there is no doubt that individuals can do great things! Brilla was born out of the idea that focusing on the light and energy within is just as important as recognizing others who are shining bright!

Brilla started as a non-alcoholic pop-up beverage bar at the West Seneca Farmers’ Market. Offerings at the market include premium and organic teas, locally roasted coffee from Tipico Coffee in Buffalo, NY, fresh pressed juices, and Aguas Frescas. We are dedicated to helping others enjoy delicious, healthy, and fun beverages and #shineforlife!

Brilla celebrates caregivers and is donating a portion of sales to Sensational Fun. This organization creates a welcoming and safe place for kids of all abilities to play. Abby’s boys are on the autism spectrum and have enjoyed the fun and care while parents enjoy a bit of respite and support!

In December 2024 due to a need to focus on health and continued healing, we have decided to temporarily close our shop.

We thank you for your support!
